Tesla trip planner

Pick your Tesla trim and route. The planner stops at mapped Superchargers, charges only as much as the next leg needs, and tells you what you'll pay.

Getting the most from Superchargers

Tesla's charging curves peak early. Arriving at around 10–20% and leaving once the stall drops well below its peak (often somewhere between 60% and 80%) is usually the quickest way down the highway. Precondition the battery by setting the Supercharger as your destination in the car: a warm battery accepts much higher power, especially in winter.

Speed matters more than most drivers expect. Going from 65 to 80 mph can cost a Model Y dozens of miles of highway range, because air resistance rises with the square of speed. Try it: change the cruising speed above and watch the stops move.

Prices vary by site and time of day. Tesla shows the current rate in the car and app; enter it under “Charger speed, prices & gas comparison.” For what a full charge costs at home in your state, see how much it costs to charge a Tesla.

Questions drivers ask

Is this the same as the trip planner in my Tesla?

No. Your car’s built-in planner knows live Supercharger availability and your exact battery state, and it should have the final word on the day. This planner is for planning ahead: comparing routes, speeds, winter vs summer, and the cost of a trip before you leave, on any device.

How much does Supercharging cost?

Tesla sets prices per site and often by time of day, and shows them in the app and on the car’s map. The planner defaults to $0.45/kWh; change it to the price you see. For home charging costs by state, use the cost-to-charge-a-Tesla calculator.

Which Tesla ranges are used?

EPA estimates for each current Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck trim from fueleconomy.gov, including the separate highway range.

Can non-Tesla EVs use this?

Yes. Use the main EV trip planner, which includes every make and all mapped fast-charging networks.
