Privacy Policy

How ElectricRoutePro handles your data (spoiler: we don't)

Last Updated: November 3, 2025

Our Privacy Commitment

ElectricRoutePro is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes how we handle data when you use our EV trip planning and calculator tools.

Data Collection

What We Collect

By Default: Nothing

ElectricRoutePro operates on a local-first, privacy-first principle.

  • No user accounts - We don't require registration or login
  • No server-side data storage - Your calculations and trip data stay on your device
  • No personal information collection - We don't collect names, emails, or contact information
  • No tracking cookies - We don't use advertising or tracking cookies

Data That Stays On Your Device

The following data is stored locally in your browser only using IndexedDB and localStorage:

  • Trip history - Past trip plans and routes you've saved
  • Charging history - Your charging session records (in Savings Tracker)
  • Saved profiles - Range calculator condition presets you've saved
  • Calculator history - Previous calculations for quick reference
  • Preferences - Your saved EV models and favorite charging stations

Important: This data never leaves your device. We have no access to it. You can clear it anytime through your browser settings.

Third-Party Services

Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand how visitors use our site:

  • What we track: Page views, referral sources, general location (country/region)
  • What we DON'T track: Individual user behavior, personal information, or cross-site activity
  • Purpose: Improve our tools and understand which features are most valuable
  • Data retention: Aggregated analytics data only

Mapping Services

For trip planning and charging station finder features, we use mapping services:

  • What's sent: Addresses you enter for route planning, your approximate location if you use "current location"
  • When it's sent: Only when you explicitly request route planning or station searches
  • Purpose: Calculate routes and find charging stations
  • Your control: Don't enter addresses if you prefer not to use this feature

Your Control & Rights

You have complete control over your data:

Delete Your Data

  • Browser data: Clear your browser's storage (Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data)
  • Specific features: Use "Clear History" buttons within our tools
  • Export before deletion: Use export features to save your data as CSV/PDF before clearing

Opt Out of Analytics

  • Use browser extensions like uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger
  • Enable "Do Not Track" in your browser settings (we respect DNT signals)

Data Security

Since your data stays on your device:

  • Your responsibility: Keep your device secure with passwords/biometrics
  • Our responsibility: Secure our servers, use HTTPS encryption, follow web security best practices
  • No data breach risk: We can't lose data we don't collect or store

What Makes Us Different

Many EV planning tools require accounts and store your data on their servers. We believe:

  • Your trip data is personal - Where you go and when is your business
  • Local storage is better - Faster, more private, works offline
  • Simple is secure - No accounts means no account hacks
  • You own your data - Export it, delete it, keep it - your choice

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.

Compliance

This privacy policy is designed to comply with:

  • GDPR (European Union)
  • CCPA (California)
  • General privacy best practices worldwide

Our local-first approach means we're compliant by design - we simply don't collect the data that would require complex privacy regulations.

Remember: Your EV trip data, charging history, and calculations live on your device. We build tools, not databases of your personal information.

ElectricRoutePro - Plan your trips, own your data.
